Gardening

Ever since moving to this beautiful place nearly a decade ago I have become more and more interested in all things natural and horticultural. I inherited a delightful garden which came laden with history and love. My mission has been simply to look after what I found and restore it, where necessary, to all its glory, adding a few personal modifications here and there with the intention only ever of enhancing its natural beauty.

From September 2010 I embarked on a 2-year horticultural course at Reaseheath College in Cheshire to add some credibility to my gardening activities which include running a Gardening Club down at our village infant school. I have learned so much and made many friends, an experience which will last my lifetime.

I also have a special interest in photographing plants and flowers and produce original photographic cards which I sell locally.

In the future, I hope to write increasingly frequently on all things horticultural. Some of my favourite writers are Vita Sackville-West, Christopher Lloyd, Anna Pavord and Katherine Swift.

I believe wholeheartedly in the restorative, recuperative and therapeutic aspects of being in touch with nature and the natural rhythms of season and soil.
